    On successful graduation, Mindful Academy International formal 8-week MBSR Course CPD Standards certificates are issued and accepted in a multitude of countries and across all professional sectors.   • Kathy Ward

    Kathy Ward is a Senior International Mindfulness MBSR Trainer, Supervisor, Supravisor, Teacher, MBCT Cancer teacher, and Founder, CEO of Mindful Academy International and has trained over 460 teachers in the mindfulness and yoga field worldwide since 2010. She has also been invited as a mindfulness expert to speak at a TEDx Talk in June 2019.  

    Kathy studied Mindfulness at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, School of Psychology, Bangor University where she trained with Eluned Gold, Sarah Silverton, Jody Mardula and Trish Bartley. She is a member of the UK Network of Mindfulness-based Teachers and meets the requirements of the Good Practice Guidelines for Trainers of Mindfulness-based Teachers and as a Mindfulness-based Supervisor published by the UK Network of Mindfulness-based Teacher Trainers 

    Kathy has diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy and NLP Coaching with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy CBT, Motivational Therapist, and Coach with Motivational Training in Scotland. She is also a Senior Hatha and Yin Yoga Teacher and certified Yoga Therapist accredited by the Yoga Alliance and IAYT International Association of Yoga Therapists in the USA. 

    In total, Kathy has nearly 40 years and many thousands of hours experience in writing, developing and delivering training packages, workshops and conferences, supervising and coaching both live and online, and in-depth training in Mind-Body therapies specializing in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy and teaching Mindfulness in different contexts including Mindful Eating.

  • Tina Romenesko is an Accredited MBSR Teacher and graduate of Mindful Academy. She has a Master of Arts, Spanish Language and Literature, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science. Tina has completed over 1000 hours of training and works full time as a Mindfulness MBSR Teacher, Professional Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher. 

    Based in the USA Tina is CEO of Trillium Studio in Milwaukee, the venue for Mindful Academy International USA Training courses. In addition to running 8-week MBSR courses for groups and individuals, Tina teaches yoga therapy and is a primary teacher for the Integrative Yoga Therapy 200 hour Teacher Training. Tina has also assisted on the Level 1 and Level 2 Mindfulness Teacher Training courses.

    Tina is a certified .b curriculum Teacher with the Mindfulness in Schools Project, Boston MA. She has taught Professional Development with various districts in addition to Classroom Instruction in various MPS High Schools.

  • Julia Emes

    Julia is an Accredited Mindfulness Teacher and graduate of Mindful Academy and Mindful Academy International. She has a BA Hons Modern languages, MSc in Human Resource Development for Developing Countries, Diploma in Teaching English for Academic Purposes and RSA Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Adults. 

    Julia works full time as a Mindfulness Teacher and Yoga Teacher in Sierra Leone. She is also trained as a PAWs.b and .b curriculm Teacher, and in 2017 continued her training with Mindfulness in Schools project as a .b Foundations curriculum teacher (mindfulness for school staff and others working in youth-related settings)

    Julia has just graduated from a 6-month 300-hour training to become a certified TCTSY trauma sensitive yoga facilitator (through the Justice Resource Institute) This work is also informing her mindfulness teaching as she brings a trauma-informed approach to the sessions.

    With a mission to bring context-appropriate Mindfulness Teacher Training to Africa and elsewhere, Julia is training as a Mindfulness Trainer and regularly assists on the Level 1 and Level 2 Mindfulness Teacher Training courses. She is also co-lead the February Silent Retreat with Kathy Ward.

  • András Barta

    András is an Accredited MBSR Teacher, graduated from Mindful Academy. He now works as an MBSR Mindfulness Teacher in Budapest and has taught cc. 800 hours on various levels, incl. 5-day silent/non-silent retreats, camps, practice groups, and intermediate groups. He is also an Addiction Counsellor, MSc, from the Semmelweis University in Budapest and has studied Mindfulness-based Relapse Prevention with Action on Addiction in the UK. 

    András is a member of the Hungarian Mindfulness and Contemplative Association www.mindfulnessegyesulet.hu, elected into the Board of Supervision, and in April 2019 he successfully graduated as a Mindfulness Supervisor with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice CMRP, Bangor University.

    Once a school teacher, for nearly two decades he had a colorful, creative, but stressful life. He published two novels and also appeared on national TV shows. Worked as a copywriter, creative director, scriptwriter, TV writer, and editor. His work took him to several places in the world including Mexico or South Africa.

    An unexpected diagnosis of cancer changed his life dramatically, turning him towards meditation and other body-mind approaches. Now being a Buddhist practitioner, András is rooted in the Kagyü lineage of Tibetan Buddhism while he also regularly attends Vipassana retreats as taught by late S. N. Goenka.

    With a mission to bring affordable Mindfulness training to Hungary, he is also co-running the Mindfulness Teacher Training Level 1 course with Kathy Ward in May 2019 and a Silent MBSR Secular Retreat in September 2019, both at the Malom Guest House, Dömös, Hungary.

  • Dr Hedi Hoka

    Dr. Hedi Hoka trained both with the University of Massachusetts Medical School Centre for Mindfulness in the USA with Florence Meleo-Meyer and Bob Stahl. She has also taken the Level and Level 2 courses with Mindful Academy International. 

    Hedi has a BA and PhD in Psychology and held the position as Associate Professor in Applied Psychology for 10 years at the “Babes-Bolyai” University Cluj-Napoca. She has also published many papers and is the author of a best selling book. 

    She is now CEO of the European Academy for Mindfulness and Biobee Foundation Kindergarden. Since 2012 she has been running MBSR 8 Week courses for groups and individuals as well as leading International workshops and seminars.

  • Fiona McMahon

    Fiona  McMahon is an Accredited MBSR Teacher with Mindful Academy. She has a  BA psychology,  MA Education,  Post Graduate diploma in  Occupational Psychology and is a Certified Mediator. She now works as an Independent Training and design consultant for the European Commission in Brussels and runs 8 week MBSR courses and Mindfulness Retreats.

    Fiona has been working in the area of psychological wellness and personal development since the 1980’s. She has designed and supported the implementation of  policies promoting Respect and Dignity at  work for many European Institutions. She supervises teams of counsellors across Europe who support colleagues in distress at work. She has also design programmes on Building Effective Relationships, Leadership skills, Building Emotional Resilience, Mediation, Conflict Resolution, Stress Reduction and Emotional Intelligence. She also worked for the United Business institutes Brussels as a Lecturer in Leadership and on modules for the MBA course.

    Fiona opened her own Mindfulness retreat centre in 2018, and will be assisting on the Level 1 Mindfulness Teacher Training course in Spain in May, and the Level 2 Mindfulness Teacher Training course in Ireland in August.

  • Paulo and Diana Resende Mindfulness Hatha and Yin Yoga Teacher Training courses

    Paulo and Diana are owners and Directors of the 'Being Academy' based in Portugal. Paulo and Diana were affiliates of Mindful Yoga Academy for 2 years and in April 2019 they took over the Mindful Yoga Academy Yoga Alliance USA registration when Kathy Ward stepped down to focus on Mindfulness. 

    They are both graduates of the Mindful Academy Mindfulness MBSR Teacher Training, 200hr Mindful Hatha Yoga Teacher Training and the 50hr Mindfulness Yin Yoga Training.
